Privacy Policy

Logbook is a digital pilot logbook. It holds the record of your flying, which for many pilots is a legal record they cannot easily recreate. This page explains exactly what is stored, who can see it, and how to get it back out or delete it.
What we collect
- Account details — your email address, your name, and a securely hashed password.
- Your logbook — flights, aircraft, times, routes, remarks, approaches, landings, and the people named on an entry (instructor, student, or crew).
- Pilot profile — date of birth, flight review date, medical class and medical exam date. These exist so the app can tell you what has expired.
- Endorsements — endorsement text, and any scan or photograph you upload. Scans are stored privately and are readable only by you.
- Instructor signatures — when you request a digital endorsement signature, the instructor's name, the typed or drawn signature, and the time it was signed.
- Messages you send us — anything you write in the contact form, plus the email address you give so we can reply.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone, ever.
- We do not show advertising.
- We do not run third-party analytics, trackers, or advertising pixels. There is no analytics script, no tracking pixel, and no advertising SDK in this app.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not read your logbook for any purpose other than showing it to you and keeping the service running.
Where your data is stored
Your data lives in a Postgres database hosted by Supabase, with row-level security enforced in the database itself — the rules that stop one pilot reading another's flights are applied by Postgres, not only by the app.
These are the only third parties that process your data:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and private file storage for endorsement scans.
- Vercel — hosting for the web application.
- Resend — sending transactional email, such as an endorsement signing link or a password reset.
- Stripe — payment processing, if and when a paid subscription is offered. Card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by this app.
Data stored on your device
The app remembers small preferences in your browser, such as which columns you have chosen to show in the flight table, and when the backup reminder was last dismissed. These never leave your device.
In the iOS app, a copy of your logbook is saved onto your phone so you can read your flights, totals, and currency without a signal. That copy is held in the app's private storage, is stamped with the account it belongs to, and is removed when you sign out or when a different account signs in. Deleting the app removes it.
What it costs, and future changes
Logbook is free to use today, with every feature included and no credit card required.
We want to be plain about this: it may not always be free. We may introduce a paid subscription in the future. If we do, we will give you advance notice rather than changing the terms without warning, and you will always be able to export your complete logbook to CSV — whether or not you choose to subscribe. Your record stays yours either way, and nothing you have logged is ever deleted for non-payment.
How long we keep it
Your logbook is kept for as long as your account exists. It is your record, and the app is designed to preserve it, not to expire it.
If a paid plan is introduced later and a subscription lapses, your data is still kept and stays exportable — access may be restricted, but nothing is deleted for non-payment.
Getting your data out, and deleting it
You can export your entire logbook to CSV at any time from the Export page, with no assistance from us and no charge. The export is a complete copy, suitable for importing into another logbook application.
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from the Settings page — no request and no waiting. It removes everything: your flights, aircraft, endorsements, uploaded scans and the account itself. Export first if you want to keep a copy, because deletion is immediate and permanent and we cannot recover it for you.
If you have trouble reaching that page, the contact form still works.
Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit. Access rules are enforced in the database, so a bug in the application cannot expose another pilot's rows. Endorsement scans are held in private storage and served only through short-lived links generated for you.
No system is perfect. If you find a security problem, please report it through the contact form and it will be taken seriously.
Children
Logbook is intended for pilots and student pilots, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to how your data is used will be communicated by email.
Contact
Questions about privacy, or a request to export or delete your data, can be sent through the contact form.
